I have worked with survivors of sexual violence and trauma for many years now. One of the things I get asked the most is if there is any support available for the people in their lives who support them on their healing journey. Providing support to someone who has experienced trauma or sexual violence can carry a lot of weight as often due to the confidential nature of the disclosures supporters often feel they have nowhere to turn to make sense of their own experiences or to gain tools to help the survivor.
After not being able to sign post them to further support I decided to launch of an emotional support group for people who support survivors of sexual violence and trauma. The group offers a safe space to explore your experiences and meet others in a similar position. This isn’t group therapy but a supportive space to be heard and find acceptance.
